Earlier this week, Google announced their latest revision of their Pixel devices – the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. Alongside the routined revisions, this release introudces the Pixel 9 Pro Fold – a successor to the Pixel Fold announced in May 2023.
This release includes revisions to other products of the Pixel family – namely the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2.
Pixel 9-series
Coming standard with the latest Google Tensor G4, these devices tactfully integrate powerful AI tools in its core functions. Areas of application ranges from AI-supported camera features, to the iconic built-in assistant in the form of Gemini.
Looking at the details of the specifications highlights the extra benefits associated with the Pro lineup. Broadly speaking, the Pro variants of the Pixel 9 comes with 16GB RAM as opposed to the 12GB RAM of the standard Pixel – an extra boost for multitasking.
The price premium brings about a 42-megapixel front camera alongside LTPO displays (with increased resolution) – a jump from 10.5-megapixel front cameras and a standard OLED display.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold
While being the second iteration of the Fold lineup, this version of the Pixel fold inherits its name from the other devices – along with the specs of the Pro variant. The thinnest foldable phone at the time of writing, it contains the largest inner display of devices within the same class.
Whilst coming with a similar camera setup of the Pro models, it is worth mentioning that users can use the face unlock feature whether the phone is folded or unfolded.
Pixel Watch 3
Providing the choice of two display sizes, the Google Pixel Watch 3 offers an enlarged display which is also brighter and more responsive. While maintaining a 24-hour battery life, this version now comes with advanced running capabilities, all-new readiness and cardio load tracking amongst its slew of new features.
To supplement the fitness plans, the watch prides itself with providing deeper health insights, and personalised AI-powered run recommendation based on individual goals, readiness and target load from Fitbit Premium.
Pixel Buds Pro 2
Already featuring a comfortable, secure fit, the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 is now equipped with enhanced hardware and AI improvements. These upgrades bring about greater noise cancellation, upgraded sound quality, precise location tracking.
A new feature known as Conversation Detection will automatically pause music and switch to Transparency mode in response to a detected conversation, increasing conversation clarity whilst being hands-free.
