Since its introduction in 2016, the Google Assistant has definitely come a long way, notably in terms of offering personalised services and localisation (yes, it even understands Singlish leh). It has now become a part of daily life for millions of people around the world.
In its early days, the Google Assistant was just offered in two voices. It was limited to Google Home speakers in the U.S. and English or German Pixel phones. Now, the Assistant is available in over 90 countries in nearly 30 languages, offering 10 voices to choose from and works with more than 100 million smart home devices, including lights, security systems and thermostats.
Today, as the Google Assistant celebrates its 5th birthday, try greeting the Assistant with a birthday message like “Hey Google, Happy Birthday” or “Hey Google, how old are you?” for a timely surprise.
