Expand your search expressions with Google’s latest update

In case you find yourself constrained by Google’s text and picture search capabilities, the search engine has recently introduced new updates that enable users to better express their search requests with AI assistance.

Whilst staying in the same program, users can now satisfy their curiosity by interacting with the content at that instant – be it circling, highlighting, scribbling or tapping on it. This feature will be launched globally on select premium Android smartphones, from 31 January 2024, such as the Google Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series.

Using additional cues with multi-search in Lens

Available for previews in Singapore, when opted in to Search Generative Experience (SGE), it delivers AI-powered insights with regards to what is in the camera frame. You could alternatively select a media, accompanied by complex or nuanced questions about what is in frame.

Supported by Gemini – exclusively on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series

Powered by Google’s best-in-class foundation model – the Gemini Pro, users can anticipate superior summarisation capabilities and photo editing capabilities alongside the features mentioned above.

Lighter tasks will utilise Gemini Nano – the most efficient model for on-device tasks. This brings an added privacy benefit where data processed will be bound to the smartphone.

Availability

To experience these features early, consider being an early adopter of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. Apart from the features mentioned in this article, these devices will receive other AI-enhanced features such as Live HDR.
