Currently available for preorder, the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro aim to inspire healthy habits through intuitive insights, advanced features, and even more powerful capabilities.
Contained with a larger display, enhanced battery and a rugged design, Samsung hopes to empower its users with holistic insights harnessed from its in-house BioActive sensor.
BioActive sensor
The epicenter of the watch, the sensor uses a single unique chip that combines three powerful health sensors – Optical Heart Rate, Electrical Heart Signal and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis.
It aims to deliver extensive readings that include heart rate – with AFib detection, blood oxygen level, and even stress levels, with a deepened understanding of blood pressure, ECG and body composition.
Body composition comes to include skeletal muscle, basal metabolic rate, body water and body fat percentage for a more critical understanding of general health and fitness.
A tailored approach for workout
A snapshot of the user’s overall health status can provide users with a tailored approach to set goals, follow through with personalised workouts and track progress. Going to the extent of post-workout, the Galaxy Watch5 series supplies users with recovery data – including post-cardio workout heart rate and recommended water consumption based on sweat loss.
Holistic lifestyle measurements with medical awareness
Acknowledging the importance of rest, the Galaxy Watch5 now includes snore detection and blood oxygen levels – on top of a sleep pattern score. Utilising SmartThings integration, the watch automatically sets connected lights, AC units, and TVs to presets – to foster an ideal sleep environment.
Design improvements – starting from its exterior
Featuring a Sapphire Crystal display as standard, the Galaxy Watch5 boasts a 60% harder outer layer for use on rough terrains. Up to 40 hours of battery life on the standard variant, the watch can also be charged 30% faster than its predecessor. Offline Google Maps is also making its way to this device, in addition to Spotify and Google Assistant support.
The Pro variant of this series gets an additional bump in durability and battery life. A titanium casing with protruded bezel design serves as the first line of defence against rough terrains. An all-new D-Buckle Sport Band offers rugged durability with a sleek and clean fit.
Having up to 80 hours of battery life allows users of the Galaxy Watch5 Pro to take advantage of GPX – a novice feature on the Galaxy Watch. With Route Workout, go about recording a hike to share with like-minded explorers on the Samsung Health app.
Remain within a downloaded guided path with turn-by-turn directions whilst on wheels (bicycle) or on foot (hike), which can even bring you back to where you first started.
