The Samsung Galaxy S23 series sets new benchmarks in smartphone photography with its 200MP camera

Setting the trend with its flagship features in the past, the newly released Samsung Galaxy S23 series focuses on the performance gains attributed to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile platform – a joint effort between Samsung and Qualcomm.

On the basis of having the same device size with a 5,000 mAh battery (on the Ultra variant), the new S23 series boasts a 30 percent performance boost from its predecessor that can be attributed to a newly designed CPU micro architecture.

Making the whole setup work, Samsumg now features a bigger vapor cooling chamber to keep all the processes going while keeping heat expenditure in check. To ensure optimal comfort for extended screentime, its vision booster function now includes three levels of lighting instead of two to combat brightness and glare in daylight.

Strong Camera Hardware

At the centre of attention, the Galaxy S23 Ultra boasts a new 200MP Adaptive Pixel sensor that utilises pixel binning, allowing multiple levels of high-resolution processing at once.

The rear sensor now includes a doubled optical image stabilizer (OIS) angles in all directions on Galaxy S23 Ultra. The capability of enhanced 8K video (30FPS) produces a more cinematic aesthetic with a wider angle.

On its front, this iteration brings about fast autofocus and Samsung’s first Super HDR selfie camera – moving from 30fps to 60fps for imported front-facing images and videos.

Touch of your own flare

With a suite of tools to choose from, such as the Expert RAW app, users can now edit photos in RAW and JPEG – mimicking DSLR results without bulky pieces of equipment or tedious export procedures. Notably, users can experiment with Multiple exposures photo art or capture a clear view of the Milky Way with Astrophoto settings.

Working closely with other accessories

Pairing with the Galaxy Buds Pro further enhances video experiences with the new 360 Audio Recording feature. Owners of the Galaxy Watch5 series will have the option to utilise the new zoom capabilities on the Camera Controller app from their watch faces.

Graphics processing for better camera results

Tapping on the capabilities of its highly efficient NPU architecture, the S23 produces jaw-dropping photos and videos, even in varying ambient conditions. Visual noise commonly found in low-light images can now be corrected with an AI-powered image signal processing (ISP) algorithm that enhances object details and colour tone.

Atop of colour correction capabilities, object-based AI to analyse each detail in the frame to carefully reflect a person’s dynamic characteristics.

Enhanced gaming performance

Moving away from the leaps in mobile filmography, the Galaxy S23 Ultra supports real-time ray tracing to produce more lifelike renderings of scenes, with approximately 41 percent faster GPU performance to accommodate the demands of power users.

Safeguarding data security for its users

Clinching multiple government and industry certifications than any other mobile device, Samsung’s end-to-end Knox protection includes a Security and Privacy Dashboard for full visibility over data permissions. Users whose data risk getting compromised can take control over the access each program has over their data.

Knox vault now protects information on the Galaxy S23 series by isolating the restricted areas from the rest of the device in times of data crisis.
