The new Nikon Z30 aims to empower everyday users to express themselves through video and imagery

Clad in an APS-C size/DX-format, the Nikon Z 30 is a mirrorless camera designed to be carried in a backpack or handbag – as users express themselves through vivid videos and images. Thanks to its prominently placed built-in microphone and an approximate 100% angle of view in 4K UHD/30FPS, the camera is a dependable companion for videographers.

The camera is able to auto-switch to self-portrait mode when the monitor faces the front for a seamless experience. A movie-indicator light, optimally placed buttons, and a 7.5cm vari-angle touch-sensitive monitor make it easy for newcomers to adapt to the camera after a couple of tries.

Dedication to video filming

With up to 125 minutes of shooting time, the Z 30 also comes with varying focus modes for different shots – Single Autofocus (AF-S), Continuous Autofocus (AF-C), and Manual Focus (MF). One mode worth highlighting is the Animal Detection AF which detects the eyes of pets for focused framing in photos and videos.

Thanks to the wide-angle of view mentioned, projects such as product reviews or makeup tutorials can be done in confined spaces. Full HD/120p for slow-motion filming and 20 types of filter effects make it easy for amateur creators to spice up their products with ease.

Suitable for multiple scenarios

The high ISO sensitivity of up to 25600 (video) and 51200 (images) complimented with a weight of 350g makes the device suitable for a long day out across varying locations. Adding on to that, Nikon’s very own CMOS sensor delivers up to 11 frames per second in high-speed continuous shooting or 5 frames in the regular setting.

Webcam Utility and NX Studio allow for live streaming and easy video editing respectively, making this device suitable for the workstation. Thanks to the SnapBridge application, photos and videos can be transferred promptly for timely posts on social media.

Scalable for different preferences

The support for accessories such as NIKKOR lenses makes the camera scalable to the specific needs of the users whenever necessary. With the aid of exposure compensation in Auto Mode, the light and shadow of an image can be easily adjusted. Three parameters of adjustments can be saved for convenient recreation of intended shots.

To end it all off, there’s also a highly customisable mode dial that saves up to three original settings, and features custom buttons that can be assigned to frequently used settings. Not forgetting a photo/video selector that allows for fast and easy switching when previewing shots.
